The Crave at the Corporation, Sheffield, February 7

As a bunch of pretty boys growing up in a world of Motley Crue and Guns n’ Roses, The Crave wear their influences on their sleeves. Unfortunately tonight- among the bad hair and tattoos the band resemble Bon Jovi .
Earlier in the night Tiger Please manage to satisfy the small cluster of fans with an anthemic Mumford and Sons inspired set. Littered with waistcoats and fashionable facial hair they build multi-layered vocals up to rousing chorus’ and banging rhythms.
But with gruff vocals and neat guitar distortion The Crave are too vocal-led to really break out of their shell.  Taking tracks from ‘Breaking the Silence’ the band remain too regimented and too serious as their teenage fans look on. With black eyeliner galore the group are left heartlessly ripping through ballads as the lacklustre audience look on a little bored. But with melodies to inspire and a rugged dark look, they’re halfway there.
